Susie Williams Music
Meet Susie Allanson Williams
If you ask Susie Allanson Williams how long she has been singing, her answer would be "As long as I have been breathing!"
Growing up in a musical family, music played constantly in Susie's home. As a child she sang in both church and school choirs; as a teen she began to sing at local rodeos; as a young adult she performed in Broadway musicals and toured internationally as a country music recording artist.
Still in her teens and fresh out of high school Susie Allanson began her professional career in musical theater. She appeared in the original cast of Jesus Christ Superstar as the Maid by the Fire and was asked to recreate that role in the film of Superstar, which was filmed on location in Israel. After returning home Susie was heard by a well known producer, and was immediately signed to record an album for Warner Bros. That turned into 4 albums, 4 top ten singles and a #1 record. In 1978 Susie was nominated by the Academy of Country Music for New Female Vocalist and received Billboard's “Best New Female Singer”. She has appeared on many TV shows, including the iconic Hee Haw!, and toured internationally with greats like Merle Haggard, Reba McIntyre and the Oak Ridge Boys. Her musical career has covered a lot of territory, you can even find Susie in the Motown Hall of Fame!
Susie eventually settled in Los Angeles where she married composer Steve E. Williams and turned her attention to studio work. Her movie credits include Godzilla, The Preacher’s Wife, Casper, Mel Brook’s Dracula, Disney’s Twice Upon a Christmas, The Brave Little Toaster (Disney), Muppet Baby Cartoons, and many more. It was during this time that Susie also began to develop her songwriting. Her song, “You’re Always There”, was a top 10 hit for Kim Boyce on the CCM charts.
During this time, she also began to direct kids and consequently put together many children's choirs for film and radio commercials as well as choirs for special projects including Sheila E., MTV’s Tsunami Relief, and ABC Television.
As her opportunities to work with children continued, Susie began to see how much she loved teaching. A mom of two creative kids herself, as well as being director of a large children's choir at her church, worship leader and a grateful lover of Jesus Christ, Susie began to write songs for children and discovered her own main love - helping them discover their own creativity and musical gifts as they learned about the Love of God. This led her to write more than 10 original children's musical productions which have been performed by churches around the world. She also created an arts program for kids called "WAMO!" (Worship Arts Ministry Opportunities) for schools and churches. . Her commitment to creating excellent music for children earned her two nominations and a Dove Award for Best Children's Musical.
Susie is and her husband now live in the Santa Clarita valley, where she happily continues to teache, direct, mentor and write.
